As photographers, pro and non alike, we take pride in our work. A time-pass for some, livelihood to others, nonetheless a prized hobby of walking around with expensive and sometimes complicated gadgetry and looking for photographic opportunities in nondescript places. Yes, that is what we do, isn’t it.

So a few months ago, we chanced upon an idea, a concept that would be an experiment to begin with. An experiment that will be a brick-wall no-brainer to those who refuse to see beyond what lies in front of them and an opportunity to those who can dig out fresh ideas and put them into their image making process. As we embark on this exciting experimental journey, we require 36 photographers. Photographers who are image makers, who see frames in everyday life. Photographers who live and thrive on photography and are delirious at every image they spent spending hours trying to conceptualize it and working on it, image makers, professional and not, those who can see images in everyday life. Those who can create them, even before its happened. This group will be responsible for making images from a regular point and shoot 35mm film camera of the likes of Kodak KB10.

Yes, a 35mm point and shoot, film camera. A Kodak KB10 (download the manual here).  What comes to mind when you think of this camera? Cheap, inexpensive, throwaway, child’s-play point-and-shoot.

There will be no crop factor here, no lens aberration whatsoever, no vignetting, no blurring, super fast focusing, stabilization , depth of field , and completely automatic, no mess with ISO, WB, AEB and no tripods will be required.  All that comes out of a these are sweet and humble pictures. The camera doesn’t do anything for you. Train your eyes to shoot something magical.

You will have to give it to your developer to wash, print, scan them before seeing on your computer.  Yes the wait will be new to a few of us, but it’ll be a worth it.   If you have the creative juices flowing, and possess an eye to observe, here’s to your chance to show us what you can do.
